MassAHU’s Position: SB-1048 (the State’s Drug Price Transparency Legislation)

| April 14, 2016

MassAHU President, David A. Shore was quoted today in the Boston Business Journal regarding the issues surrounding SB-1048, the state’s Drug Price Transparency legislation. MassAHU believes that:

  • Government’s roll is that of facilitator not regulator.
  • That transparency is a tool that will only work from the consumer up and not from the top down.
  • To empower consumers by promoting total transparency of price and quality combined with plan design incentives that foster personal responsibility accountability and opportunity.
  • That MassAHU embraces collaboration with the entire healthcare ecosystem on behalf of consumers and employees to increase access to high quality, affordable health care thru the private insurance market.
